How to Connect a Cable Router With No Computer Connected to it
Aside from computers, there are other electronic devices such as video game systems that you can connect together and/or to the Internet with a router. If you want to connect such a device to a router, don't worry if you don't also have a computer connected to the router. A router connects all electronic devices in the same way, so it makes no difference if you connect an electronic device to a router with or without a computer.

1
Plug the Ethernet cable from the modem into the input jack in the router to connect the electronic devices to the Internet. The input jack will clearly be labeled "input" or "WAN". When the Ethernet cable is secured within the Ethernet input jack, you will hear a small click.

2
Connect the power cord into the router. Plug the two-pronged end of the cord into a nearby wall outlet, and firmly press the other end of the power cord into the power input jack of the router. The power input jack will either be labeled as "power" or will have a symbol right next to it that looks like a circle with a small vertical dash on the top.

3
Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet input jack of each electronic device that you want to connect to the router. The Ethernet cable must be long enough to reach from the electronic device to the router. The Ethernet jack will either be labeled "Ethernet" or will have a symbol with two boxes on the bottom with one on top between them. You will hear a small click once the Ethernet cable is secured in the Ethernet input jack of the electronic device.

4
Connect the other ends of these Ethernet cables to the output Ethernet jacks in the router. The Ethernet output jacks will be grouped together and labeled "line1," "line2," "line3" or something similar. Again, you will hear a small clicking noise when the Ethernet cord is secured within the Ethernet jack. The router is now completely connected.

Tips & Warnings
You may also connect many electronic devices, such as video game systems, to a wireless router. Video game systems capable of accessing the Internet will have some type of connection settings in the main menu where you will have to configure your wireless connection. Under the "connection" settings, easy-to-follow steps will be given to guide you to configure your wireless connection. The fact that there is no computer connected to the router will have no effect on your ability to connect other electronic devices to the router.
