How to Print From My Blackberry

The BlackBerry is a versatile smartphone with some of the same capabilities of a laptop computer. However, the ability to print is one important, missing element. There are a few programs that allow you to print via BlackBerry, including Cortado Basic Print and Tazzle IT. Cortado comes with a free trial download; instructions follow here on printing using Cortado.

Things You'll Need

• Bluetooth-ready printer
• Internet access

Instructions

1. Navigate to the Cortado download link at www.cortado.de/bp on the BlackBerry.

2. Download the appropriate version for your BlackBerry. The version for OS 4.7 only applies to those using BlackBerry Storm. Proceed if you are asked if application permissions are OK to allow.

3. Open the document or picture you wish to print from the BlackBerry.

4. Turn on the printer, making sure that Bluetooth is enabled. Use a program like Tazzle IT if the printer does not have Bluetooth. Tazzle comes with a USB Bluetooth input to convert devices to Bluetooth.

5. Access the full file menu screen on the opened file by pressing the "Select" button and then choosing "Full Menu."

6. Select "Print." Revisit installation if this option is not present; it indicates Cortado was not installed properly.

7. Pair the Blackberry with the printer. A prompt should emerge showing all Bluetooth devices in the area. Select the printer from that menu. Select one final prompt asking you if you want to print; printing should begin.

Tips & Warnings

• Avoid Bluetooth by connecting the BlackBerry by USB cord to a PC and dragging files to the desktop using Desktop Manager. Print from the desktop. Another option: Email files from the BlackBerry and open on a computer networked to a printer.
