Brush the leather regularly with a lint brush to remove any fiber collection on the leather surface, plus remove any knaps that develop on the leather.

Remove dirt and loose residue by brushing with the lint brush, which should remove most dirt and grime that easily flakes off of the leather.

Pour cornstarch directly onto liquid stains. The cornstarch will immediately absorb the stain, drawing it out of the leather before it has the opportunity to cause permanent damage. Let it sit for 10 minutes, and wipe off with a damp sponge.

Remove sticky stains by wiping the area with a damp sponge combined with a drop of liquid dish soap. This mild soap will safely remove sticky substances without damaging the shearling leather.

Store the shearling leather in a cool, moisture-free space that maintains a temperature of roughly 55 degrees.

Store the leather in a place where it is able to breathe. Do not seal the leather in an air-tight bag, as it will collect moisture and ultimately cause mildew to form on the leather.

Hang coats and jackets on a firm, heavy-duty hangers while storing to preserve and hold the shape of the jacket.
