How to Operate a Whirlpool Bathtub

Soaking in a luxurious whirlpool bath is the perfect way to end a long, tiring day. Whirlpool baths are said to relieve stress, as well as relax tired, sore and achy muscles. Having a whirlpool bathtub in the privacy of your own home is more convenient than using a hot tub at a gym or fitness center. Learning how to operate a whirlpool bathtub is relatively simple, leaving you more time to soak in the glorious experience. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Set the water temperature for your bath. Depending on the make and model of your whirlpool, the temperature control may consist of a simple knob or an intricate electronic control panel. For best results, set the temperature between 100 and 102 degrees F. Purchase a thermometer from a local pool supply store to monitor the temperature in your whirlpool bath if desired.

    • 2

Fill the tub with water set to your temperature preference. Run the water at least two inches higher than your tub's highest jet or water level sensor.

    • 3

Climb into the whirlpool bathtub carefully. Hold onto something sturdy while getting into the tub to avoid slipping. Sit down in the bathtub and make yourself comfortable.

    • 4

Press the "On/Off" control on the side of the tub to turn on the pump and start the whirlpool jets. Wait for up to a minute while the pump primes. Once the pump is primed, the jets will activate.

    • 5

Press the "On/Off" button at the end of your bath to turn off the whirlpool jets. Drain and rinse the whirlpool tub at the end of each bath.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make luxurious bubbles a part of your whirlpool bath experience. Add one to two drops of a biodegradable liquid to your bath water to create just the right amount of bubble. Take care not to add too much soap to the water or you risk having the bubbles spill out onto the floor.

  • Never set the temperature of the water higher than 104 degrees F. Temperatures above 104 degrees F can lead to hyperthermia. Symptoms of hyperthermia include disorientation, confusion and failure to perceive heat. Seek immediate medical treatment for these symptoms.

  • Take care to avoid slipping while using your whirlpool bathtub.

  • Circulating oil into the jet system will promote the growth of bacteria. Do not use bath products that contain oil additives when using the whirlpool jets.
