How to Find an Accelerated Reading Test Online

Accelerated Reading is a computer-based assessment program used by many schools to enhance their reading curriculum and improve students' reading abilities. Books are classified according to the child's reading level. Students read books, then take on line quizzes that test comprehension, vocabulary and literacy skills. The Accelerated Reading Program is owned by Renaissance Learning and is available for schools to purchase.

Instructions

1. Check to see if your school has purchased the quizzes. The Accelerated Reading program is usually maintained in the library. If your school utilizes the AR software, the quizzes are included. You can view them on line once you have the a password to access the system.

2. Order quizzes from the official website. Renaissance Learning sells quizzes invidually or in sets. You can search for quizzes by book title, author or keyword. Quizzes will be mailed or downloaded to your account.

3. Use teacher-created AR tests for free. Teachers who write their own version of accelerated reading quizzes may post them on their personal websites as resources for parents and co-workers. Laura Chandler's File Cabinet is a teacher website with an Accelerated Reading section. This educator uses the AR system, but writes many of her own quizzes which she includes on the site along with the answers. These are not official AR tests; they must be purchased.
