How to Make Cheap & Creative Displays for Costume Rings
Many women like costume jewelry because it is less expensive than jewelry made from precious stones and metals, but just as attractive. Some people even create and sell costume jewelry as art pieces. Whether you wear or sell your costume jewelry, display and storage can be difficult. Rings are especially challenging to store and display. Keeping them loose in boxes makes them hard to see, and padded ring boxes can be expensive. Creative displays turn costume rings into delightful decorations and leave money in your pocket.

Recycled Glove Display
-
1
Stuff several leather or satin gloves with batting so that each glove looks like it has a hand inside it. Use gloves with a 4-inch cuff or longer that no longer fit you, or disused formal elbow-length gloves.
-
2
Sew the opening of each glove shut with needle and thread.
-
-
3
Slide your costume jewelry rings onto the fingers of the gloves any way you like, placing one or several rings on each finger and the thumb.
-
4
Lay your glove ring displays out on your bureau or display table creatively. Arrange them lying flat in a semicircle, or prop them in a shallow cardboard box or shoebox lid that you have painted and embellished with scrolled or geometric designs.
Hat Box Ring Display
-
5
Choose a round hat box that matches the style of your rings, whether modern, vintage or retro. You may use one you already have or purchase a new one at a craft store, with or without a lid.
-
6
Cut a piece of foam as thick as the hat box is deep into a circle that fits neatly into the box. Thick, dense furniture cushion foam holds its shape well and stands up to cutting and shaping. White, cream or light yellow foam will work.
-
7
Arrange strips of satin ribbon in parallel diagonal lines across the top of the foam. Glue them down with liquid stitch.
-
8
Arrange a second layer of ribbon strips in parallel diagonal lines that cross over the lower ribbons to make a diamond pattern. Use liquid stitch to glue these ribbons down.
-
9
Set the foam into the hat box, tucking any loose ribbon ends down into the box along the sides of the foam. Wrapping the ribbon over the edges gives the display a more finished look.
-
10
Poke scissors or the tip of a craft knife into the center of each foam diamond to make a ring slit.
-
11
Push your costume jewelry rings into the slits to hold them in place. Use the lid, if you have one, to keep out dust.
