Instructions

    • 1

Turn the king-size fitted sheet inside out, and place it on the queen-size mattress. The wrong side of the fabric should be facing you. Line up the corners of the sheet with the corners of the bed.

    • 2

Pull up the center of the sheet. Fold it until the sheet lies flat as if it were the right size. Measure the fold to ensure it's about 16 inches.

    • 3

Pin along the fold against the mattress from the top edge of the fitted sheet to the bottom edge of the fitted sheet. Make your pin line as straight as possible. Remove the sheet and take it to the sewing machine.

    • 4

Use a straight stitch on the sewing machine to sew as close as possible to the pinned line. Remove pins as you sew. Use scissors to cut the excess material from the seam. Discard the extra material.

    • 5

Sew the raw edges of the new seam in a zigzag pattern with your machine. This will secure the fabric and keep it from unraveling. Place the newly sized fitted sheet on the queen mattress.
