How to Calculate Bandwidth Costs
When searching for a hosting company, calculating your bandwidth needs depends on the type of site you have. For a static page with fewer daily visits, you won’t need as much as a site that has thousands of hits a day with streaming music or video or items available for downloading. Most hosting companies measure bandwidth in months, so determine how much you need on a monthly basis.

Tips & Warnings
In the formula, the “Fudge Factor” is defined as “A number greater than 1. Using 1.5 would be safe, which assumes that your estimate is off by 50 percent. However, if you were very unsure, you could use 2 or 3 to ensure that your bandwidth requirements are more than met.”
Hosting companies could charge you for going over the bandwidth provided in your plan.
