How to Lock a Moped

Mopeds typically run on gasoline and often operate using a low-powered engine. They're not as powerful as a traditional motorcycle, but they're more economical, more cost-effective, and generally easier to operate. Also, mopeds can often be powered by the engine or pedaled, giving you the freedom to choose how you want to travel and eliminating the worry of running out of gasoline.

Instructions

    • 1

If you ride your moped to work or school, you should purchase a disc lock to secure the moped's brakes. If you usually lock up your moped at home, consider using a chain lock.

    • 2

Secure the disc lock to the rear brake disc or the front brake disc of your moped. This locks your moped's brakes in place, making it impossible for it to be moved.

    • 3

Wrap a chain lock around the wheel of your moped and then around an immovable object. Close the lock, and keep the key to the lock with you at all times.

    • 4

Keep your moped in your garage when at home if possible. While your moped is in the garage, use either a disc lock or a chain lock as an added security measure.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember to unlock a disc lock before riding your moped. If you forget, you can cause serious damage.
