How to Measure for a Doll Wig

Creating your own dolls allows you to customize them for any occasion, including choosing their eye and hair color, as well as their clothing style. Doll wigs come in a variety of sizes and styles, and most of them are fitted with an elastic band customized to fit a specifically sized doll's head. Measuring your doll to determine her wig size is relatively easy.

Instructions

    • 1

Unroll a cloth tape measure and hold the front of the tape measure in one hand.

    • 2

Lay your doll on a table. If she already has hair and you would like to replace it, you will have to remove the hair by cutting away the current wig or hair to make sure you get an accurate measurement.

    • 3

Place the end of the tape measure behind one of the doll's ears and wrap it around the back of her head, just above the neck.

    • 4

Bring the tape measure around the other side and across the forehead until it meets with the starting point.

    • 5

Record the measurement in inches and go to the doll-making section of a craft or hobby shop. Purchase a wig that falls within the range of your measurements. For example, if the circumference of your doll's head is 15 1/2 inches, a size 15 or 16 wig will be sufficient.
