How to make a Great Resume

Writing a resume is the first and most important step you must complete in order to find a job. In order for you to have a chance to be called for interview you must have an impressive resume.

      You must have your resume type on a computer. Never write by hand. Use a word processing program to create a resume. You may chose a basic template or just simply start typing your resume.

      Begin by writing your full name and contact information on the top of your resume. You may center it or right/left align it, its your choice.
      Second, you must write an objective. Figure out what your goal is write out an impressive objective.

      Next you should write either your education or your work experience, whichever you have more experience in write that one first. Start by listing the schools that you went to, the location, the time that u went, and what degree you obtained, in chronological order. Also for the work experience, you must list where you worked, when you worked for the company, what position you had, and your primary responsibilities. Also it is important to note all promotions and raises you received.

      Next, you should add your volunteer experience. This should be written out the same format as your work experience.

      Now you must write out your special skills. Any talents, awards, computer skills, and certifications you have should be listed here.

      Lastly, you must have references. You may list your references, or you may simply write "available upon request". Either way is acceptable.
      Now that you have listed everything, you need to organize it all and align it accordingly on the word processor. It must look organized, this is VERY important. Your name and your headings including; objective, education, work experience, volunteer experience, special skills, and references, must be in Bold type.

      When you are finished, save your resume, and print as many copies as you need. If it is two pages or more, you may staple it together, but do not hole punch your resume. You are now ready to distribute your resume to employers.
