Safari is a Mac-based web browser that comes installed on all Apple computers. The browser has advanced Javascript handling and fast HTML rendering that allow it to operate smoothly and quickly. However, some Mac users find their Safari browsers slow, especially when starting. This can be a result of various things, so it's a good idea try a few things to fix the problem.

Instructions

  1. Reset Safari

    • 1

      Reset your Safari browser by clicking on the Safari menu. Select "Reset Safari" on the drop down menu.

      Click each of the boxes. It's not necessary to remove saved names/passwords or your top sites.

      Press the "Reset" button. This will complete the reset process.

    OpenDNS servers

    • 4

      Locate and click the "Airport" icon at the top right corner of your Mac screen. Choose "Open Network Preferences" from the drop-down menu.

      Select "Advanced" at the bottom of the box that appears. A new window will open.

      Click on the "+" option and add these two DNS servers: 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222. These two OpenDNS servers speed up the page-loading process.

      Exit the program and save your changes when prompted.

Tips & Warnings

  • The first few times you open the Safari browser on your Mac computer it will open slowly. After the third or fourth time, Safari will load much quicker.
