How to Unlock Extras in Star Wars LEGO
The video games "LEGO Star Wars," "LEGO Star Wars: The Original Trilogy" and "LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga" each have special extras that can allow you to play as new characters, use special abilities and more. Acquiring certain objects or finishing missions unlocks these extras, which you'll find in the Mos Eisley Cantina or Dexter's Diner---depending on which game you're playing. A few items become available for use automatically. You'll need to buy the others with LEGO studs in order to use them.

Search for a red power brick in each mission. These bricks unlock extras that you can buy once you've completed the mission. Explore each area thoroughly in either mode you're playing in.

Collect as many LEGO studs as possible in each mission to achieve True Jedi status. True Jedi status means you receive a gold power brick. Obtaining a certain number of these bricks unlocks bonus missions that you can access in the Cantina or Diner. You'll find the studs scattered throughout each mission. You can also collect them by hitting or destroying objects and building objects.

Find all 10 Minikit Canisters in each mission to receive a gold power brick and additional LEGO studs. You'll notice some canisters sitting out in the open when you enter different areas. You can simply walk up to these to collect them. You'll need to perform a series of tasks, such as turning on a certain number of lights, to get other canisters to appear or to access canisters that are behind glass or surrounded by a force field. The tasks vary from mission to mission.

Complete a mission in Story Mode to unlock new playable characters, special abilities, vehicles or hints. You'll also get another gold power brick.

Visit the bar in the Cantina or the counter in Dexter's Diner. Select "Characters," "Extras," "Vehicles" or "Hints." Scroll through the available items. Look below each item to see how many LEGO studs it costs. Buy the items you want.

Tips & Warnings
Gaining access to some areas requires a specific ability that only a few characters have, such as high jumping. You'll need certain types of characters, such as a Bounty Hunter or Stormtrooper, to get into other areas. Play through the missions in Free Play Mode, which provides you with several playable characters to choose from, if you can't reach these areas with your playable characters in Story Mode.
Spend your LEGO studs wisely. You'll need to save up to afford powerful abilities, such as invincibility, and certain characters, such as Yoda's Ghost, which cost much more than others.
You can buy gold power bricks in the Cantina or Diner.
Click "Extras" on the "Pause" menu to view and activate your special abilities.
You lose a certain amount of LEGO studs each time your character dies until you achieve True Jedi status.
