How to Fix an XP SP3 Mouse
If you've just installed Windows XP's Service Pack 3 and your computer's mouse has stopped working, it is because the driver for your mouse is outdated and not compatible with the new operating system upgrade. This is irritating but not an uncommon phenomenon when upgrading your operating system. Fixing this is simple--you just need to connect to the Internet and install the newest driver for your mouse.

Open your computer's web browser.

Go to the product page on the manufacturer's website for your mouse. To do this, first go to the main webpage for the company that made your mouse. This will be listed on the box the mouse came in. Then, click "Products" and then find the specific page that lists your exact model of computer mouse.

Click on "Support."

Click on "Drivers and Updates."

Download the executable file for the latest version of your computer mouse's driver. Once the file is on your computer, click twice on it. Click "Extract" to install your mouse's updated driver. Restart your computer.

Tips & Warnings
If you've lost the ability to use your mouse, you'll have to navigate around webpages with your keyboard's "Tab" key. While it may be time-consuming, you can still highlight hyperlinks and boxes on Internet webpages with the "Tab" key and then select them with the "Enter" key.

This is not very helpful. If your mouse has stopped working then how can you click on things?
