How to Convert MS Word to an MS Publisher File with Free Shareware
There are many new word and desktop publishing programs created every year. Sometimes, you want to work on a particular project using a program that you feel the most comfortable in. If you wish to work on a Word document using Microsoft Publisher with free shareware, there is a method that will help you.

Log on to the Internet using your preferred browser.

Create a Windows Live ID by visiting Accountservices.passport.net, clicking on the link "Sign up for an account." If you already have a Hotmail account, use that as your Windows Live ID. If not, sign up for an account and accept the Microsoft terms of service.

Visit the Microsoft Office website at Office.microsoft.com and click the "Sign In" link at the top left-hand corner of your page.

Accept the Microsoft Office terms of service at the bottom of your page by typing in your Hotmail email account and clicking "I Accept."

Search for the term "publisher" using the Search Office Online tool at the top of your browser.

Click on the link for the Publisher Home Page.

Scroll down the page until you find a link to download a free 60-day trial of Microsoft Publisher 2007 and click on it.

At this point, you can either download all of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 or just Publisher itself by looking at the list of "Related Products" and selecting the "Try Now" link under Office Publisher 2007.

Print the page you see on your browser. It contains the product key that will unlock your free trial of Publisher.

Click either "Download 1" or "Download 2" to begin the download. You may be prompted to begin a second download if you have never downloaded a Microsoft product. In that case, hit "OK" to enable the Microsoft Product Downloader.

When the product has completed downloading, you will be asked if you want to open Publisher right now. Check that box and close the download tool to open Publisher.

Use the product key from your printout to unlock Microsoft Publisher after it opens.

There are two options for converting your Word document at this point. Either click the File menu and scroll down to "Import Word Document" or click the File menu and scroll down to "Open Document." Find your Word document on your computer and double-click it.

Once the Word document is open, click on the File menu and scroll down to "Save As."

Click the drop-down menu on the "Save as" type category. Select the type of Publisher file you wish to save the Word document as. Place the file where you'd like it on your computer by clicking on the appropriate folder then click save. Your Word document has now been converted.

Tips & Warnings
The free shareware of Microsoft Publisher lasts 60 days. After that, you will either need to purchase the product or simply view your original document in Microsoft Word.
