Tips & Warnings
Using the "Panorama" option when opening a new blank image works well if you are creating just a text image. It offers lots of room to play and adjust as necessary.
The "Gradient" options work very nicely for coloring text for lightning text effects.
The "Leather Long and Spread" is a good option for a text texture for this effect.
"Outer Glow", "Emboss", "Layer" and "Drop Shadow" options in the properties layer style pallet create a glowing effect about the letters when used together.
Another option to resizing the lightning image is to use the "drag tool" and the "warp tool" to create the look you are going for.
If none of the preset gradient colors or textures are to your liking, a number of Internet sites offer these and more, often for free (although not all are free so be sure to read the fine print). Simply download them and add to the appropriate Paint Shop Pro preset folder.
If you use textures and images from someone else, be sure to read the copyright terms for them and use accordingly. Copyright infringement issues and lawsuits, even with simple graphic projects, can be a major hassle leading to hefty fines.
