How to Put Emoticons in Your Name on MSN

MSN Messenger, now Windows Live Messenger, is an instant-messaging program that allows you to chat with MSN and Hotmail users. Your display name is the name that appears in the chat window and on the buddy lists of your friends. You can customize your display name by including various emoticon graphics.

Instructions

1. Launch Windows Live Messenger and sign in with your username and password.

2. Click "Tools" and select "Options."

3. Type the characters that correspond to the emoticon you want to use in the text box labeled "Display Name" (see Tips for finding a list of these).

4. Click "OK" to save your changes. Your display name will now appear with the emoticons you selected.

• Click "Tools" and "Emoticons" to see a complete list of available emoticon images and the corresponding text necessary to display them.
