How to Add More Fonts to GIMPshop
GIMPshop is a free, open source graphics program. Based on the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), the GIMPshop interface is designed to match the look and feel of the popular Adobe Photoshop program. None of these programs allow users to add fonts directly. Instead, you'll have to install new fonts to the fonts directory in Windows and clear the existing GIMP font cache. GIMPshop will automatically load fonts from the fonts folder when launched.

1
Close GIMPshop. Because fonts are loaded when the program starts up, newly installed fonts will not appear in GIMPshop while it is open. Click "File" and select "Quit" to close the program.
-
2
Open the fonts utility. Click the Windows "Start" button. Select "Settings," then click "Control Panel." Locate the icon labeled "Fonts" and double-click it.

3
Install new fonts. Press the "Alt" key, followed by the "F" key to open the File menu. Click the "Install New Font" option. Find the "Folders" section of the Add Fonts dialog box and navigate to the folder containing the fonts you want to install. A list of fonts available for install from the folder will appear in the "List of fonts" section at the top of the dialog box. Click once on a font name to select it. Press the "Ctrl" key while clicking your mouse on a font name to select more than one font. After selecting all of the fonts you want to add, click the "Install" button. Click "Close" after installation completes.

4
Show hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer. You must clear the font cache files used by GIMP before your newly installed fonts will appear for use in the program. Since these files are hidden, you must first make them visible. Open any Windows folder, then press the "Alt" key followed by the "T" key to open the Tools menu. Click "Folder Options." Click the "View" tab, then select the option labeled "Show hidden files and folders." Click "OK" to confirm the change.
-
5
Clear font cache files. Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Run." Enter "%userprofile%" (without quotation marks) to open your Local Settings folder. In Windows XP, open the following folders: "Temp," "fontconfig" and "cache." In Windows Vista or Windows 7, open these folders: "AppData," "Local," "Temp," "fontconfig" and "cache." In either version, delete every file in the cache folder.
-
6
Open GIMPshop. Launch the program and create a block of text. The fonts you added in the previous step are now listed and available for use in GIMPshop.
