If you have a sturdy (but ugly) box, dress it up a bit to give it a new life. The sky's the limit on this little project.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Spray Glues
  • Old Greeting Cards
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Boxes
  • White Glues

  1. Step 1

Glue the picture parts of old greeting cards to the outside surfaces of the box. Postcards look good, too.

  2. Step 2

Spray it with one of those textured paints. Marble or granite look really spiffy.

  3. Step 3

Make color copies of your favorite pictures from the family photo album. Be sure to make the copies on fairly stiff paper. Regular copy paper will wrinkle when glued.

  4. Step 4

Use spray glue to fasten old newspaper or gift wrap to the box.

  5. Step 5

Spray adhesive over the entire box and then press cut-up pieces of fabric to it. When it's completely covered, follow up with a good coat of high-gloss clear spray. Note that thin fabrics work best.

  6. Step 6

Use craft glue, and fasten plush or fantasy fur to it for a really fun effect.

  7. Step 7

Spray paint the box. When it's dry, glue puzzle pieces or silly craft eyes to it. Or let the kids put their handprints on it with finger paints.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use spray glue instead of regular white glue for even coverage.
  • Be sure to use very thin coats of any paint. Remember, it's just paper.

on 11/22/2005 For teenagers, you might want to put stickers on the box or wrap it with wrapping paper or construction paper and draw over it. Or cut out your favorite pictures of celebrities (from magazines) and paste them on.
