How to Unlock an RCA Satellite Receiver

"Locking" a system refers to making your system configurations unable to be altered. These include: ratings, spending limits, and channel limits. Each of these can be individually customized, and then "locked" into place. "Unlocking" a system means that you are opening all of these things up to being altered. Your specifications will be wiped, and you can start from scratch. An unlocked system is also susceptible to other people changing your settings.

Instructions

1. Navigate to the "Lists and Limits" section from the main menu. This is where you make system configurations, and lock or unlock your customizations.

2. Highlight "Lock System" from the "Lists and Limits" section. Press Menu Select on your remote control to open this menu.

3. Use the arrows, or digit keys, on your controller to enter your four-digit security password. This tells the system that you are authorized to make any alterations to the settings. You'll have to enter the password twice for confirmation.

4. Scroll down to the "Unlock Limits" option, and press Menu Select on your remote control. Choose "Yes" to confirm that you wish to unlock your system. Return to the main menu.

Tips & Warnings

• Write your security confirmation password on your owner's manual, so you won't run the risk of forgetting it.
