How to Install a Marine Toilet in an RV
Traveling with your own personal toilet is one of the best perks or having an RV. Instead of using an outhouse or public bathroom you can use your own bathroom. It is often more sanitary and comfortable, and really makes your RV feel like your home away from home. Marine toilets are not a specific model, but refers to the toilet used in RVs. If you need to install a marine toilet, the installation is easy enough to do yourself.
Things You'll Need
- Toilet system
- 3/4-inch round slotted screws
- Screwdriver
- Ratchet and 1 1/4-inch socket
- 2-inch hex bolts
- Plastic flat washers
- Hex nuts
- Clear water hose
- 1/4-inch bolts
- 3/4-inch hose
- Metal clamps
- Vented loop

Place the toilet on a flat work surface. Make sure that the drain is facing you.

Place the gasket on the triangular pad.

Fasten the pump to the assembly base with the 3/4-inch screws.

Turn the toilet upside down. Insert the spud assembly into the hole located on the back of bowl and tighten the hex nut. Do not make it too tight.

Place the marine toilet on the base. Make the sure the spud is facing away. From the bottom up, insert the hex bolts through the bowl and base. Secure the bolts with washers and hex nuts and tighten by hand.

Install the clear hose between the top connection on back of the pump and the bowl elbow. Tighten bowl fasteners after aligning the bowl.

Attach the toilet to the floor using 1/4-inch bolts. Insert them through the holes on the base right into the floor.

Locate the inlet on the pump, it should be pointing down, and attach the 3/4-inch hose. Connect 1 1/2-inch hose to the pump for discharging sewage. Clamp down both hoses.

Install a vented loop between the toilet and holding tank. Attach at least 12 inches above the outside waterline.
