Vegetables and fruits should always be washed thoroughly before they are consumed regardless of whether they are organic, purchased at the grocery store or harvested from your garden. A good wash is necessary to remove any bacteria, pesticides or any other contaminants from your produce before eating. But instead of purchasing commercial vegetable washes, you can make your own easily with lemon juice and some common household supplies.   • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • Dash of Peroxide
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • Plastic spray bottle
  • Scrub brush
  • 1 cup hot water

      Begin with a sanitary working area and clean hands.

      Mix about 2 tbsp. of lemon juice with a dash of hydrogen peroxide, and about a half a cup of plain vinegar, 2 tsp. baking soda and 1 cup of hot water. Allow the mixture to dissolve.

      Pour this mixture into a standard spray bottle or squirt bottle.

      Spray or pour the solution on your fruits and vegetables. Use a small scrub brush to clean each piece of produce thoroughly.
