How to Braid Air Conditioner Extension Cords
Placing an air conditioning unit in a window often requires the use of an extension cord from an outlet to the unit. Storing an extension cord is often a challenging endeavor, however, particularly when you own more than one cord. Looping the cord can lead to knots, and leaving the cord loose can cause it to become entangled with other items in the closet. Loop braiding your extension cord not only keeps the cord tightly wound, but also knot free, saving you the trouble of untangling it with each use. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Connect all of the extension cords into one piece. Plug the male end of the first cord into the female end of the second cord, the male end of the second cord into the female end of the third cord, and so on -- until only the female end of the first cord and the male end of the last cord are not plugged in.
-
2
Hold the female end of the first cord in your right hand. Create a loop of your desired coil size by grabbing the cord in your left hand at the point of your loop, passing the female end behind the cord at this point, and grabbing the end of the cord in your left hand without releasing the point of the loop.

3
Reach through the loop with your right hand, and grab the cord at another point, the same length as the first.
-
4
Pull your right hand back through the loop, still holding the cord. Twist your wrist so that the cord pulled through the loop crosses over itself, creating a second loop. Grab this second loop in your left hand. You should now be holding both loops at the base of the loops.
-
5
Continue making new loops, reaching your right hand through all the previous loops, then pulling it through, twisting and grabbing.
-
6
Plug the male end of the last cord into the female end of the first cord, after the entire length of cord has been coiled into loops.
-
7
Plug the male end into a socket, and the female end into the air conditioner unit. Pulling on the cord will allow it to naturally unwind without you having to untangle it, allowing just enough cord to reach from the wall to the unit to unwind, leaving the rest in a neat coil.
