How to Remove Hot Wax From a Surface
Wax spills can be some of the most stubborn to clean up. Cleaning up these wax spills carefully, without damage to the surface underneath, can save your furniture, carpets and other areas from permanent staining. You can use a clothing iron to remove spilled wax from most surfaces, including hard areas like tables and counters, or textiles like clothing and carpets. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wipe up the spilled hot wax with paper towels or napkins. Clean up as much of the wax as you can before it dries; once it dries, it becomes more difficult to remove.
-
2
Scrape up excess wax with a plastic scraper. If you do not have access to a plastic scraper, use the blunt edge of a butter knife or spoon. Dispose of your scrapings before continuing so they are not in the way.

3
Place a layer of paper towels over the remaining wax stain. Set your clothing iron to medium heat.
-
4
Iron over the paper towels. The heat of the iron will melt the wax; you will be able to see the wax being absorbed by the paper towels.
-
5
Replace your paper towels with clean ones as necessary. Continue to iron until all of the wax has been absorbed.

Tips & Warnings
Use a plastic scraper to remove wax, as metal scrapers can leave scratches in tables or tears in cloth.
If necessary, use a higher heat setting on your clothing iron to melt the wax. Just be careful that you do not burn the paper towels.
