Click on the font file to download it from the Internet. If you are transferring the file from a disk or portable drive, open the Finder window. Click on the drive where the font is located. Find the font file name and drag it to your computer's desktop. This is only a temporary holding position for the file, so that it will be easy to locate and install.

From the Finder window, click on "Applications" and then open "Font Book." Locate the font file on your computer. Files downloaded from the Internet default to the "Downloads" folder unless you have set your preferences differently. A file uploaded from another drive will be on your desktop (per the previous step).

Tips & Warnings
-Mac OS X uses fonts with .ttf file extensions.
-All of the pre-installed fonts on your Mac are already in Font Book.
Not all downloaded fonts will display correctly when sent to other users or a printer. To ensure your font comes through correctly, convert your finished document to a .pdf file. Click on "File," "Print," then "PDF" in the lower-left-hand corner of the print dialog box. Click on "Save to PDF" and name and locate the file.
