Rosetta Stone offers 31 different language programs for home study. When you choose your language package, you have the option to learn online or to buy the lessons on CDs. If you choose the CDs, after you install the Rosetta Stone application you'll also need to install the Language Level CD, which allows you to decide with which lesson level you'll begin. For instance, if you already know basic French, you can skip the first level.

      Open your computer's Applications folder and click on the Rosetta Stone icon. A new screen will appear with different options. Choose "Add a Language Level."

      Insert your Rosetta Stone Language CD in your computer drive. A new window will open. Close it and click on "Continue." Choose the language level you want to download from the pull-down menu. Click on "Install selected language."

      A new screen shows you in which computer folder the foreign language will be installed. Click on "Accept" if the location is the one you want. To change folders, select "Choose a different location" and follow the prompts. Once installation is complete, click on "Continue" to launch Rosetta Stone.

      Enter the activation code you received with your product in the boxes on your computer screen. Click on "Activate," then on "Continue" to finish installing the language.

Tips & Warnings

  • To add another language level, launch Rosetta Stone. Click on the preferences icon in the menu on the top right. Choose "Add or Remove Languages." Click on "Add a Language Level" and follow the prompts.
