How to Keep Thermals Bright-White Without Bleach
Thermal underwear, also called long underwear and long johns, comes in pants and shirts and is almost always white. Thermals are used by adults and children during the winter months to stay warm. They can be worn as pajamas or underneath a set of clothing. Because of their nature, it doesn't take much for these white thermals to begin to look dingy. Turn your washing machine on and set the water temperature to hot. Select small, medium, or large load depending on how many sets of thermal underwear you are getting ready to wash.

Add water softener, borax, and OxiClean to your washing machine water when it has almost reached full capacity. Let them dissolve in to the water before adding your clothes.

Place your white thermal underwear in to the washing machine and close the lid.

Switch the thermals from the washing machine to the dryer when the cycle is complete. Use high heat. When the dryer beeps, your clothes are done and still as bright white as when you bought them.

Tips & Warnings
Lemons also contain a whitening powder. Try squeezing some lemon juice in to a sink full of hot water. Allow your thermals to soak in this mixture for half an hour before washing them as you normally would.
Don't wash your white thermals with colored clothing. The dye will bleed on to your thermals.
