How to Identify the Model of a Mongoose Bicycle

Mongoose bicycles are a brand of BMX bicycle. BMX (bicycle motocross) is a professional sport that uses bicycles that are shorter than mountain bikes and have pegs extending from the front and back tires for foot and hand placements in order to do tricks. The Mongoose was introduced to the BMX industry in 1975 by Skip Hess. Model numbers are used to separate and categorize Mongoose bikes and to make ordering parts or decals easier.

• Mongoose bicycle
• Pen

Instructions

1. Set your Mongoose bike upright so that you can see both sides of the bike without interference.

2. Search around the bottom bracket. There should be a sticker with a number on it.

3. Write down the number. This is your model number.

Tips & Warnings

• Since Mongoose bikes have been in production for over 35 years, there are many different model numbers. They do not have the older models in production anymore, so you will need your model number to see if they have spare parts for your model. You can also find different warranties that apply to your bike with the model number.
