How to Make a Fast Fat Burning Burrito
Eating healthy does not mean you have to give up your favorite Mexican food. With a few healthy substitutions, you can turn your favorite Mexican dish into a healthy low-cal, fat burning food. Things You'll Need
- Low-carb, low-fat, whole wheat tortilla
- Natural black beans, canned or precooked
- Low-fat cheese
- Shredded lettuce
- Shredded red cabbage
- Fresh salsa
- Flax seed oil
- Avocado
- Brown rice, cooked
- Oven or microwave
- Cilantro (optional)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees unless you will use a microwave for this dish.

Lay the tortilla flat. Place 1/4 cup low-fat shredded Mexican cheese in the center. Drain the black beans if necessary. Put 1/4 cup of the black beans on the cheese. Place 1/8 cup of precooked brown rice on the beans. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil over the rice.

Place tortilla with ingredients open-face in the microwave, if this is your preferred cooking method.. Cook on high for one minute. If you are using an oven, put the tortilla open face on a cookie sheet and bake in the preheated oven for two to three minutes. Check ingredients after cooking; they should be hot to the touch. If not, microwave or cook a minute or two longer. Remove the tortilla from the microwave or oven.

Add a handful shredded lettuce and shredded red cabbage on top of the tortilla. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of salsa and two to three slices of avocado, depending on your preference. If you want to make it really authentic add 1 or 2 tablespoons of fresh cilantro.

Wrap both sides of the tortilla in then take the open side and roll. This helps keeps the ingredients in your tortilla. Serve and eat immediately.

Tips & Warnings
Do not substitute refried beans for the black beans.
For a lower carb burrito leave out the brown rice.
Choose a salsa that is fresh, not canned, and avoid salsas with additives.
