How to Shorten a Url for Twitter Easily

Twitter, the popular microblogging website, allows a user to submit only 140 characters in each post, also known as a tweet. This character restriction makes submission of long links in tweets difficult. Use one of the URL-shortening programs to submit a long URL and receive a shortened version of it for use in your next tweet.

      Navigate to one of the URL-shortening websites. Three of the most often used sites are Bitly, Google URL Shortener and Tiny URL.com. They all work in a similar manner.

      Copy and paste the long URL link into the text box provided. Hit the button that says "Shorten" in Bitly and Google URL Shortener or "MakeTinyURL" in TinyURL. The site generates a shortened URL.

      Copy the shortened URL. Paste it into your Twitter post and save several of your 140 characters for other news.
