There is nothing more discouraging than losing your text messages. This could happen if you accidentally deleted the messages, if you broke your phone or if you had a software glitch. If your phone has a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, you will be able to retrieve messages with a SIM card reader. Just because you cannot find the deleted messages does not mean you lost them forever. A SIM card reader will help you retrieve the messages on your computer. You also have the option to back them up, if desired.
Step 1
Install the software that came with your SIM card reader. Read and accept the software agreement. Save it to your computer's hard drive.

Turn off your Virgin Mobile phone, remove the protective cover in the back and take out the battery and SIM card, which looks similar to a microchip.
Step 3
Insert the SIM card into the USB reader and insert the USB reader into an available USB port on your computer.
Step 4
Launch the SIM card reader software and wait for it to detect your phone's SIM card.
Step 5
Click the "Retrieve" button. Click the message you want to read. Press and hold "CTRL" and "ALT" to select more than one message.
Step 6
Click "Archive" to create a copy of the message or messages to the software.
