How to Remove a Decal With Steam

Decals are stickers that are put on hard surfaces such as children's beds, cars and furniture. Decals are typically made with a stronger adhesive than regular stickers. You can spend a lot of time trying to remove stickers with a sharp edge and still have the problems of scrap pieces and adhesive sticking to the surface. You also risk damaging the surfaces with this process. There is an easier process to remove decals, plus all of the adhesive that tends to be left behind, with steam.

Things You'll Need

• Iron
• Spray bottle filled with water
• Thin cloth or towel, or a washcloth

Instructions

Spray Method

1. Spray the decal with water from the spray bottle generously.

2. Turn the iron on the highest setting and wait for it to get hot.

3. Place a dry washcloth, towel or thin cloth over the decal while it is wet.

4. Iron the washcloth until the decal comes off.

Soak Method

1. Wet a washcloth with water. Wring out excess water.

2. Heat up iron to highest setting.

3. Place the wet washcloth over the decal.

4. Iron the washcloth. Peel off the decal.
