How to Backup Quickbooks

Financial data may be some of the most important information you own. It contains your payroll; expenses; payables; receivables and income; and sales and state tax information.       Open Quickbooks. Select "File" and "Save Copy or Backup" from the menu.

      Click the radial button beside "Backup Copy." Click the "Next" button.

      Select "Local Backup." Click "Options."

      Choose the "Browse" button. Select where to save your backup from the pane in the "Browse for Folder" window. Click "OK."

      Click "OK" in the "Backup Options" window. Choose "Next.'

      Select "Save it Now" from the "Save Copy or Backup" window. Type a file name for the backup in the area next to "File Name." Click "Save.".

Tips & Warnings

  • Save the backup file to an external or removable device and store it in a remote location.

  • You will lose your backup file if the storage device fails.
