How to Drain Rechargeable Batteries
Most electronic devices have some sort of rechargeable batteries provided with the equipment. Rechargeable batteries, once drained, can be recharged and reused (unlike standard batteries that much be discarded after use). Usually, when you first use a rechargeable battery the manufacturing company recommends you drain the battery completely before recharging it. Doing so can prolong the life of the battery. When a battery receives a charge when there is still power left the battery can eventually begin to not use the remainder of the battery life, shortening its use.

1
Insert the rechargeable batteries into the device it is designed for (many video and digital cameras have specially designed batteries for the equipment). If you are using ordinary AA batteries (or other similar sizes), insert them into a device you can power on, such as a portable video gaming system or digital camera.
-
2
Power on the electronic device containing the rechargeable batteries.

-
3
Leave the power turned on, even if you are not using the device (although using it does drain the batteries faster). Eventually the device turns off once the battereies have died.
-
4
Attempt to power on the equipment to make sure the battery is drained.
-
5
Turn the power to "Off" on the electronic equipment and plug it into a power outlet. The rechargeable batteries now begin to charge.
