How to Clean the CD Player in a Dodge RAM

Like any other CD drive, the CD player in your Dodge RAM can become dusty and cause your music to skip. However, because a tray does not slide out of your truck's player like it does on a computer's CD drive, you cannot use cleaning supplies such as CD cleaner disks or wipes. Instead, you are left with only one option for cleaning the CD player in a Dodge Ram: compressed air.

Things You'll Need

  • Compressed air duster with extension tube

Instructions

    • 1

Attach an extension tube to the tip of the compressed air can. The extension tube allows you to spray and aim your compressed air into the CD player.

    • 2

Insert the extension tube into the CD player and press the air release button. Thoroughly spray the inside of the player, focusing primarily in the middle of the player.

    • 3

Let the CD player dry out before inserting any CDs, in case the compressed air duster left any liquid in the player.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid inserting cleaning CDs into the Dodge RAM CD player. Cleaning disks have bristles on the bottom. Because the player does not have a movable tray, the bristles can push the disk off track and cause the disk to catch and stick on the player.
