Go to the nearest Western Union franchise or log on to the Western Union website and create your account.

Enter all details for the money transfer and get a confirmatory receipt from the Western Union outlet. You will need to provide the name and location of the receiver.

Note down the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) for your transfer and share it only with the receiver. It is best to communicate the MTCN via telephone.

Ask the receiver to collect the amount from a Western Union branch at least 10 minutes after making of transfer. Overseas transfers may be more time consuming. Ask the agent for the exact duration. The receiver will need to prove her identity before collecting the funds.
