How to Configure the Windows XP Firewall Ports
Windows Firewall offers users of the Windows XP, Vista and 7 operating systems built-in protection against hackers and other intrusion attempts. This program blocks many ports on a computer from being used, which keeps programs from accessing the Internet or being accessed from the Internet. You can configure settings for these ports so that certain programs are allowed or disallowed to access the Internet, based on your personal preferences. You don't have to be a computer expert to do this, but it helps if you are familiar with the basics of computers.
