E-cards are a very popular, easy-to-use method of communicating through email with the personalization and feel of a store-bought card. The variety of e-cards available online is greater than the variety of cards available at a store and e-cards offer many more customization options. E-cards come in postcard options. There are versions that mimic a regular card, e-cards that play more like movies, and even cards in which you can include your picture or the recipient's picture. And e-cards don't require a stamp to send them.

Select the e-card you want to customize by searching through the options in the appropriate e-card category or gallery. You can search by special occasions like birthdays or holidays, by themes like humor or by characters like "Minnie Mouse."

Insert the email of the recipient or enter multiple email addresses to send the e-card to multiple recipients. Pay attention to the recommended method to separate the email addresses, usually a comma or a semi-colon, because what works for one e-card website does not always work for another e-card website.

In the designated boxes, enter the email address and name that you want to show up as the sender for your customized e-card.

Write the message for your e-card in the textbox. Customize your message by selecting the right font size, font type, font color, and by adding any additional formatting like italics, underlining, or bold to enhance your personal message.

Add an image or video file if desired by uploading the file into the e-card by selecting the browse option and then selecting the file from your computer hard drive.

Upload your own music to further personalize and customize your e-card. Some cards have this option while others cards have preselected the music or allow you to select from two to five music options.

Select the "preview my e-card" option and review your customized e-card from start to finish. Make sure that the text size and font shows up clearly on the background and that the personalized message works well in the allotted space in your e-card.

Select the delivery time for your e-card. You can choose to deliver the e-card immediately, the day you make the card or you can select a date in the future by using the pop-up calendar.
