How to Play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is a simulation game published by Atari in 2004 for the PC and Mac. In the game, you take on the role of an amusement park manager tasked with building rides to attract a steady flow of visitors. You can play one of the included scenarios in career mode or customize your own park in sandbox mode. According to Metacritic, the game received an average score of 81 percent, based on nearly 40 reviews.

Starting the Game

Double-click on the desktop shortcut to launch the game.

Click the "Play" icon on the main menu.

Select "Play game" from the menu that appears on the following screen.
Camera Controls

Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom the camera in or out. You can also use the "Page Up" and "Page Down" buttons on your keyboard to do this.

Hold down the left and right mouse buttons and move the mouse in any direction. This will rotate the camera.

Hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse in any direction to pan to different locations on the map. While in fullscreen mode, you can also pan the mouse by pushing the mouse cursor into the edges of the game screen.
Adding a Roller Coaster

Click on the Ferris wheel icon from the toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen. A submenu with all the available rides will appear.

Click on the roller coaster icon. A second submenu with a variety of roller coaster types will appear. The small icons at the bottom of the menu allow you to filter the roller coasters by type.

Select the coaster you'd like to build. The Track Browser window will open. Scroll through the different tracks available with the onscreen arrows. Click the green check mark to confirm your selection. A wireframe version of the track will appear on the game map.

Move the track over the map with the mouse until you find a location you like. Press the Z button on your keyboard to rotate the track. Click the left mouse button to place the track on the map.
Testing the Roller Coaster

Click with the mouse on any portion of a roller coaster's track. A new menu will appear in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Mouse over the different icons and a tooltip with additional information will appear.

Double-click on the rotating icon in the center of the menu to enter CoasterCam mode.

Move the mouse cursor to the lower right-hand corner of your screen while in CoasterCam mode. A pop-up menu will appear with various options. You can choose to exit the CoasterCam, switch to a different track or move to RearCam view.

Tips & Warnings
Select "Tutorial mode" from the main menu if you need additional help or to review the basic features of the game. The tutorials cover camera controls, park management, setting up roller coasters and water rides and customizing the scenery and terrain.
Many of the commands in the game can be quickly accessed with keyboard shortcuts. To view the shortcuts or to reconfigure them, select options from the main menu.
