How to Disable Chkdsk

Chkdsk is a command-line tool that evaluates disk drives and volumes for problems. Chkdsk then attempts to repair and fix any problem that has been detected. Problems that are checked for and fixed include directory errors, lost clusters and bad sectors. The tool runs at startup if the computer is improperly shut down or the hard disk appears corrupted. The chkdsk utility can take up to several hours to check the volume and hard disk. In this case, it may be best to disable the chkdsk tool at startup and schedule a manual check at a later time.
