How to Record Windows Live Messenger Webcam

Windows Live Messenger is an instant messaging client that was developed by Microsoft. It is designed to be used with the Windows operating system. Live Messenger lets you chat with friends online. You can also use the "Sharing Folder" utility to share files securely. The chat program is bundled with an anti-virus program to help you stay safer online when exchanging files or music with other users on the Internet. The program is video-enabled when you have a webcam installed on your computer. On occasion, you may have the need to record Windows Live Messenger chat sessions conducted via your webcam.

Instructions

1. Download and install a third-party application to record your Live Messenger video chat session such as the MSN Webcam Recorder program.

2. Open the MSN Webcam Recorder program before you start a video chat in Windows Live Messenger by double-clicking the program icon located on your computer's desktop. This will allow you to record the conversation in its entirety.

3. Log in to Windows Live Messenger and initiate a video chat session with one of your friends by double-clicking their name in your "friends" list. Once the chat session is initiated, MSN Webcam Recorder will detect the start of the session and load it in the program window.

4. Select the video stream that is displayed in the program's window. Next, click the "File" button in the toolbar. From the "File" menu, select the on the "Record" menu option. The software will begin recording the conversation.
