How to Create a Successful Flyer
Flyers can be useful for many purposes. They can be a good way to let the public in on new business openings, or to invite people to a special event. You can even use flyers to enlist others in supporting a charitable cause or bringing new people to your club or organization. Creating a successful flyer can be a fairly easy project as long as you have access to a good graphics program in which to develop your flyer's design.

1
Begin the process of creating a successful flyer by mapping out the ideas you already have for your flyer design on paper. It's wise to base your flyer's design aesthetic on its theme. For example, if your flyer's purpose is to advertise an Easter sale then you should consider using Easter-related images and text. Make sure that any facts you include are correct before you print your flyer.

2
Use images or graphics in your flyer that are likely to catch the eyes of your target audience. For instance, if you want to sell classic cars, an image of an attractive person behind the wheel of a 1969 Mustang is one way to draw the attention of potential buyers, as they might then imagine themselves behind the wheel of such a car.

3
Pick a program you are familiar with, or one you have enough time to learn, with which to create your flyer. Photoshop is an excellent program to use when creating a flyer, while a freeware program like GIMP can do a great job and can be a better option if you're on a budget. Select a background type for your flyer's design. A white background is usually preferable, though your selection should be based on your intended theme.
-
4
Use layers to save any external graphics that your wish to use in your flyer. When you copy and paste your graphics in, be they clip art, photos or other artwork, you should see that they are automatically saved on a new layer. If you create graphics within the program, make sure you save them on their own layer, since it simplifies editing.

5
Add an eye-catching headline in a larger, bolder typeface than the flyer's remaining text. Spell check your text, then re-read it carefully and correct any typos.
-
6
Employ various tools available in the program to design your successful flyer. There are a wide range of effects that you can use to create virtually any design you wish. For example, the "Text" tool is the correct selection when you want to add text. Use the "Move" tool when you want to position your text and graphics on your flyer. Once you feel your flyer's design is finished, save it as a high resolution JPEG.

7
Print a test copy on plain paper and examine the entire flyer carefully. Make any necessary changes before printing large quantities.
