How to Select Tile for Outdoor Use

Most tile selections require very little maintenance and are relatively easy to clean. This makes tile ideal for outdoor use. Not only is it easy to care for, it can often withstand even harsh weather conditions, and the right tile won't be affected at all by furniture scraping or people moving across the tile for hours at a time.       Select tile that's made for outdoor use. These tiles are usually abrasion-resistant and moisture-proof. They are made of a hard, sturdy material that won't easily damage with daily wear and tear. You can also choose a tile that's rated specifically for outdoor use. These types of tile usually include all these features.

      Make sure the tile you select is between 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick. Tile that's any thinner than this is typically intended for indoor use or walls.

      Decide how large you want the tiles for your outdoor space to be. Tiles usually come is squares that range from 4"x4" to 24"x 24". You can also choose other shapes, such as octagonal and hexagonal tiles. It all depends on the look you want to create.
