Arch your back, and lift your head high out of the water.
Step 3
Take rapid, slightly shorter strokes than normal freestyle.

Breathe normally, and look around to be aware of your environment - that's why you're doing this, right?
Tips & Warnings
You can easily combine regular freestyle and head-high freestyle to balance speed and awareness.
This stroke is used most of the time in water polo.

on 11/22/2005 Always look forward when you swim head up. If you move your head from side to side as you swim, it's slower and more tiring
