How to Remove a Fingernail Polish Stain From Carpet
Nail polish bottles can easily be tipped over or the brush dropped, hitting your carpeting. Whether you notice the stain while fresh or once dried, steps can be taken to remove the spot from your carpet. Does this Spark an idea?

Hold ice on the nail polish stain to make it more brittle, without getting it wet from melting ice.

Chip away at the hardened nail polish, removing it from the carpet fibers.

Reapply fresh (non-melting) ice to the nail polish so it stays brittle as you chip it from the carpet with your fingers.

Pour a little acetone onto a clean cloth to moisten.

Dab the stain with the acetone, beginning at the outside of the spill and working in so the stain doesn't spread.

Dab the area with a dry area of the cloth, again working in, to contain the nail polish. Repeat until the polish is removed.

Use a fresh towel to blot more of the acetone out of the carpet.

Spray the area until moderately wet with an all-purpose spotter.

Blot the area with a clean, dry cloth to remove excess residue.

Tips & Warnings
The ice step are not necessary if the polish has dried.
Test an inconspicuous area with the acetone to make sure it does not damage the carpet fibers.
