1
Open the hair clip and run a thin strip of hot glue on the bottom inside of the clip. Place the ribbon strip over the glue and press firmly.
-
2
Run a strip of glue on the inside top of the hair clip. Pick up the end of the ribbon from the bottom of the clip and run it over the strip of hot glue on the top. The inside of the clip will now have ribbon on the top and the bottom.

-
3
Spread a thin line of hot glue on the outside top of the hair clip. Pull the end of the ribbon that is attached to the inside of the clip up over the front and pull tightly to smooth any bunches. Do not pull the ribbon off the inside of the clip.
-
4
Snip off any excess ribbon so it's flush with the clip.
-
5
Remove the plastic part on the bottom of the flower and separate the petals. Use petals from several different flowers or all from one flower.
-
6
Layer the petals to create your own flower. Glue them firmly to the barrette, making sure to catch all of the petals. You can also use glitter or ribbon to embellish your barrettes.
-
7
Run thin strips of glue along the edges of the petals. Dip the petals into a box of glitter or sprinkle glitter over the flowers. Shake off excess glitter gently.
-
8
Place hot glue on the button and attach firmly to the middle of the flower. Set the floral barrette aside to cool completely. Once cool, check to ensure each petal is attached securely. If any are loose, dab hot glue under the loose petals and press down. Allow the glue to cool.

Tips & Warnings
If you are having problems making the petals secure, run a needle and thread through the holes in the button and down into the petals. Lace the thread around the hair clip. Sew the thread back into the petals and through another hole in the button. Sew around the barrette until the flower is tight. Knot the ends and snip off excess thread.
Do not place ribbon on the inside of the barrette if your daughter has very fine hair. It may slide out of the hair. Instead only cover the inside top or even just the outside top of the hair clip.
