How to Publish With the Bible Society

The American Bible Society was established in 1816 with the goal of providing translations of the Bible in every language in the world, thus providing access to the word of God to all. In addition to publishing the Bible in translation, The American Bible Society also publishes other Christian books. The American Bible Society publishes a quarterly magazine called "The Record" and was instrumental in the formation of the other 147 Bible Societies throughout the world.

Instructions

    • 1

Write a query letter about your manuscript. A query letter is a one-page letter that introduces you and your book to the publisher.

    • 2

Mail the query letter and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the publisher. The SASE will be used to send notification on the status of your manuscript, whether it was accepted or declined.

    • 3

Send the query letter and SASE to:

      The American Bible Society
      1865 Broadway
      New York, NY 10023

The American Bible Society also accepts query letters via email: info@americanbible.org

    • 5

To publish a book with a Bible Society other than American, contact that Bible Society.

Tips & Warnings

  • The American Bible Society is specifically interested in helping the young. A children's or young adult book may be more likely to be accepted.

  • While The American Bible Society does accept query letters via email, standard mail is preferred.
