How to Remove ActiveX from Word

If you open a Word document created by another party, you might see a prompt asking if you wish to allow ActiveX controls. ActiveX controls are small programs that are typically harmless, but can be more treacherous--imparting viruses or accessing your registry. By default, Word 2003 blocks ActiveX controls that might not be safe. In Word 2007 or 2010, however, you must disable ActiveX controls in the "Trust Center."
