How to Create a Rock Band Flyer

Determine the type of aesthetic appearance you want for your rock band flyer. It's a good idea to try and tailor your design to the type of band you are, using imagery or even symbols that will match your band's persona and music. Gather any photos, graphics or other images you think you might want to include in your flyer's design. Creating a basic template can be a terrific way to help you formulate your various ideas. You can use your template as a guide as you create a more final version of your design in a graphics program in the next steps.

Select a graphics program to create your rock band flyer's design. If you own a copy of Photoshop, this is an effective program that can do just about anything you might need in creating your design. However, if you don't have access to a program like Photoshop (which can be cost prohibitive for many) then a great alternative is the freeware program GIMP.

Go to "File" and "New" to start a new document in the program. Select a background (generally white for flyers) that will work for the type of design you intend to create. A width and height setting that matches the standard size of the flyer you will be printing should be inserted into the dialog box next. Choosing a resolution no less than 300 pixels is necessary for a quality printing outcome for your flyer.

Bring in photos, artwork and other graphics by (once you have saved them to your computer) selecting "File" then "Open." The use "Select All," "Copy" and then "Paste" last to add each image in your flyer's overall design to a new layer in the layers panel. Add additional layers by clicking on "New Layer" as you create text and your own artwork within the program.

Use the tools within the program to develop your flyer, following your template as much as possible. Tools such as "Text" should be used to add text sections to your flyer. Select the "Move" tool to move elements around on your document to where you want them.

Print your rock band flyer either by printing them yourself from your home printer or by having them printed professionally. If you opt to print them yourself you will need to buy flyer paper which can be purchased at most office supply stores and at some retailers. If you want to print a high volume of flyers, the better option might be to have your flyers printed in a bulk order. Often you can receive a cheaper price on printing larger orders.
