How to Use a Computer LAN to Distribute Audio
A computer LAN (Local Area Network) is a collection of computers that are connected together through a router so that they can view each other and have the capability of communicating with each other. In this type of environment, someone on one computer can distribute files to people on other computers in the LAN by sharing a folder on their computer that contains these files. If you want to distribute audio files over your LAN, you can do so quite easily.

Create a folder on your computer that you want to share on the LAN. Move all audio files that you want to distribute into this folder. Keep in mind that any files inside this folder will be viewable on the network.

Right-click on the folder and click the "Properties" option. Select the "Sharing" tab and choose the option to enable file sharing on the folder. Click the "OK" button to close the Properties window.

Find the IP address of your computer on the LAN by clicking on the "Start" button, clicking on the "Run" option, typing "CMD" into the Run window and pressing "Enter." Type "IPCONFIG /ALL" into the window and press "Enter." The IP address of your computer will be displayed on the screen. In a LAN, the address will usually be something starting with 192.168, such as 192.168.1.45 or 192.168.2.190.

Give the IP address of your computer to other people on the LAN who you want to distribute files to. Tell them to open Windows Explorer on their computers and type in the IP address of your computer, preceded by two slashes (i.e., "//192.168.1.45") and press the "Enter" key. If they are asked for a user name and password, you will need to give them a user name and password to access your computer. Once this is entered, they will be able to see the folder that you shared and copy the files from that folder to their computer.
